Professional Development Advisers (PDAs) eCPD

PDAs eCPD forms part of the LSIS eCPD programme and is an essential part of the drive to transforming learning. By working with colleagues to develop an understanding of how to use technology to enhance effective teaching and learning, PDAs have been making a difference across the Learning and Skills sector.

PDAs eCPD is for staff who, working strategically with senior and operational managers, ensure that organisational approaches to the effective use of technology are made sustained. It enables staff and their organisations to:

  • develop their understanding of the pedagogy of e-learning;
  • champion e-learning approaches across the whole organisation;
  • engage learners and improve their employability;
  • help fulfill part of the Institute for Learning’s (IfL’s) 30 hour (or pro rata) continuing professional development (CPD) requirement; and
  • meet the new teaching standards and Ofsted inspection requirements.

An online multimedia version of the PDAs eCPD programme for supported self-study will be available shortly in the Courses area on the OLS. Featuring a wealth of stimulating activities and resources, users can enrol on the programme and undertake a series of guided tasks, on completion, will demonstrate their achievement of their PDA status.

Cascade training: if a colleague in your organisation or partner organisation has already received PDA or Advanced PDA training, part of their role is to cascade training within their organisation. To find out who the PDA or Advanced PDA is to arrange in-house training and support, please enquire internally or post a question via the OLS Forum area.

In the mean time, please register on the Online Learning Space to become a member of the growing community of practice, comprising representatives from the whole learning and skills sector. Practitioners create groups, contribute to forums and share their successful approaches and useful resources.
