A competition for Music Students who can write a business plan OR a competition for Business Students who are musicians!

You have until 19 February to put in your entries for the LSIS-sponsored online competition for solo artists and bands. The competition gives your learners a chance to show off their music skills and explore the music-making business from creation to marketing. We want learners to create an original track, make a video and write a business plan to market their work. The prize - a day at the famous Abbey Road studios. Brain games: Your questions please!
LSIS is making available project funding of £1000 per participating provider organisation to contribute to the further development of Brain Games. 36 projects will be funded in total, nine in literacy, nine in numeracy and six each in science, mathematics and engingeering.

'Rewiring Inclusion: Strategies, tools and techniques to promote barrier-free Learning' conference. 8-9 February, National College, Nottingham
A national one day conference in Nottingham at the National College from the evening of Monday 8 February to the afternoon of Tuesday 9 February 2010, organised jointly by ALT and JISC TechDis for any staff whose work and role affects learners and learning.
Plenary speakers include Julian Harty from Google, Jane Seale from Southampton University, Artur Ortega from Yahoo!, Peter Hartley from Bradford University, Donal Fitzpatrick from Dublin City University, and Alison Mills from The Manchester College.

Unprecedented demand for eCPD results in innovative collaboration between Becta, LSIS and LSC
Following an overwhelming interest from the sector in the eCPD training, Becta has agreed to match additional funding from LSIS to ensure an extension to the programme. The extension will fund: 40 additional training places; development with the sector of front-line guidance and products to maximise impact and sustainability of the programme; and an online multimedia version of the programme.

Harnessing Technology for Next Generation Learning
Becta has recently launched the sector's revised Implementation Plan for the Harnessing Technology strategy for FE and skills (2009-2012). This plan has been developed with Becta's national partners and is available on the FE and skills website.
